The below is a breakdown of the Squad formation for HPL 2024 –
- Minimum Squad Size of 16
- Minimum 3 Under 21 Players are mandatory in the squad (Born after September 1, 2002) – These players are drafted
- Maximum of 4 Outside (Non-Texas) Players per the outside player eligibility criteria listed here – Not Drafted
- Remaining slots are for Texas local players – These players are drafted
Below is a breakdown of the draft format –
- Please keep in mind that only Local Texas Players (including U21) are drafted, outside players are not part of the draft.
- Each Team is allowed to submit 4 Pre-Drafted core players (Deadline – March 15th),
- These Pre-drafted 8 x 4 (total 32 players) will be withdrawn from the draft pool ahead of the drafts.
- Teams are also allowed to lock U21 players on their Pre-drafted core if they wish to.
- Teams are also required to submit their 4 outside players by March 15th.
- Assuming that each team has submitted their 4 Pre-drafted local Texas and 4 outside players by March 15th, each Franchise will be drafting an additional 8 players at the drafts which will complete their squad of 16.
- At the end of the drafts, each Franchise Team squad should satisfy the Squad formation of 16 as per the clause listed in the section above.
Texas Player Grading –
- Elite (2500 Points) – Qualified Texas based resident players satisfying the criteria listed here who also fall in anyone of the following categories – USA capped players, MLC contracted players, Players formerly capped with an Associate Nation in ICC approved Tournaments, Players who have formerly represented a Nation with Test Playing Status at the International Level in ODIs/Tests/T20Is, U19 World Cup Cricket.
- Platinum (2000 Points) – Are part of a MILC Franchise Team as of the 2023 season squads or have formerly played First Class Cricket in a Test Playing Nation but did not make their international Debut in an ICC Approved Tournament
- Gold (1500)/Silver(1000)/Bronze(500) – Are players graded based on their stats and MVP standings in the recent 3 seasons of their respective Texas leagues like HCL, NTCA, ACL, San Antonio etc.
- U21 Players are not graded and have no points allocated against their picks at the drafts.
Draft Budget –
- Each Franchise Team is allocated 10,000 points for the drafts
- A sum equal to the value of your 4 Pre-drafted players will be deducted from your total of 10,000 points and Teams will enter the drafts with this remaining balance
- Additional draft points can be purchased in chunks of 500 points for a value of 100 USD.
Example – Franchise Team A has Predrafted 4 players as follows – 1 Elite (2500), 1 Platinum (2000), 1 Silver (1000), 1 U21 (0), hence their opening budget at the drafts will be
10,000 – (2500 + 2000 + 1000 + 0) = 4500 points
Match Day Playing XI –
- Minimum 1 Mandatory Under 21
- Maximum 4 outside players
- All other remaining slots can be filled by Texas Locals and U21 players
- A named 12th man that cannot be an outside player.
- No Super-Subs are allowed.
